Introduction: This booklet represents the English translation of mid-19th century knitting patterns from La Mode Illustrée, a French fashion and needlework periodical, using materials available to the modern knitters. The patterns have been translated by Silvana R. Siddali who is currently an Assistant Professor of History (CW era) at Saint Louis University and Polly D. Steenhagen, an Assistant Professor at Delaware State University.
